
Sean Farrell joined DSI in July 2008 and is resident in the firm’s headquarters in Chicago. Since that time, Mr. Farrell has been actively involved in the Estate Financial, Inc. and Estate Financial Mortgage Fund matter, which involves the wind-down of a $317 million portfolio of distressed real estate across California. In that case, he was responsible for $80 million in outstanding loan principal balances and the resultant daily communications with borrowers and investors. He also strategized and successfully entered into forbearance agreements, tracked all offers received on various properties, created budgets and assisted with property foreclosures.
In another matter, Mr. Farrell has been an active participant in the DSI financial advisory team to the creditors’ committee of Heller Ehrman LLP, which once had some 700 attorneys and offices around the globe, where he developed liquidation plans for the firm’s leased office space and art collection in its San Francisco headquarters.
Prior to joining DSI, Mr. Farrell’s professional experience included an internship with Westfield group, one of the world’s largest retail REITS, where he was involved in marketing efforts and analysis of financial statements and sales forecasts in order to improve efficiencies. He also interned with Bradford Group, an industry leader in the marketing and sales of collectible goods, and while there Mr. Farrell worked on maximizing company revenues through the sophisticated financial analysis of potential new products.
Mr. Farrell is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, and he is currently working toward his Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor certification. He graduated from Miami University where he majored in Finance and minored in Economics. His studies included a term at Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland, focusing on international finance and the global economic market.
